Actor Will Smith surprised fans after taking off a mask and revealing his face in the hallway of a movie theater in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles. A crowd is seen in shock and awe upon realizing that the man engaging with them the hallways was indeed Smith, one of two men they probably came to see on the big screen that day. According to Will Smith, it is a ritual for him to go out to the movie theaters to watch his films. 

On this occasion, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is the film up for discussion and, as far as we can tell, the movie has been met with mostly praise. Case in point: 

It's been reported by multiple outlets that the latest installment from the Bad Boys saga has debuted worlwide at more than $100M over the weekend, just a pinch over its film budget.

Many fans and industry pundits had Will Smith written off following the infamous Chris Rock assault which took place during the 94th Academy Awards on March 27th in 2022. However, following the release of this latest film, media has taken a different tone, claiming that Smith's spot as a top act has returned. His acting skills are undeniable - so, it's no surprise that he would receive much deserved recognition for all of his hard work and talent. Despite the caliber of acting, Will is human after all. But it is good to see that society is able, even if briefly, to sort out its personal differences in light of the production of a top notch film starring a top notch actor.

The Twitter verse continues ablaze following the historic rap battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Then, came the memes and screenshots to accompany a myriad of conspiracies that are currently floating around. And now, this.

The video which was produced by Chapter.xyz, shows clips of  Steezy Kane as he raps along to 'Not Like Us' while wearing headphones, walking through the streets of Toronto. 

By now, we've all seen the memes, screenshots, and even the animated videos showing rappers annihilate their competition in the studio. This was different and refreshing.

Atlanta, Georgia - Urban Mediamakers is delighted to announce the docuseries, "Dignity in Rest," which explores the story of South-View Cemetery and the African American experience in Atlanta, Georgia. Produced and directed by Atlanta native Cheryle Renee Moses, "Dignity in Rest" sheds light on the historical significance of South-View and the remarkable individuals interred there. Offering insights from 1886 to present day, the project is currently in pre-production and fundraising stages. “Dignity in Rest” docuseries is set to be completed in early 2025.

South-View Cemetery holds a rich history deeply rooted in the post-Civil War era and the Reconstruction period. Established in 1886 by a group of courageous, formerly enslaved African American businessmen, the cemetery was created as a dignified resting place for their loved ones. The founders, including Jacob McKinley, George W. Graham, Robert Grant, Charles H. Morgan, John Render, and Albert Watts, petitioned the State of Georgia for a charter, which was granted in Atlanta that same year.

Being the oldest African American non-profit corporation in the United States, South-View Cemetery serves as the final resting place for over 80,000 African Americans, including individuals who have made significant contributions to American history, the struggle for freedom, and the pursuit of equity and justice. Among the notable African American figures interred at South-View Cemetery are scholars, business owners, pastors, educators, military heroes, doctors, nurses, musicians, athletes, politicians, and civil rights activists. South-View Cemetery is literally the who’s who of Atlanta’s African Americans.

With its historical significance and the notable individuals interred there, the story of South-View Cemetery provides a profound window into the ongoing African American experience in Atlanta and the country. Moses emphasizes, "Dignity in Rest" is a powerful story that showcases African American resilience, ingenuity, community building, and the pursuit of respect in the face of ongoing adversity. It is a story that must be told."

The filmmaker plans to reside at South-View Cemetery, where members of her extended family are interred, and is working closely with the management on the project. Additionally, 15% of the project's profits will be donated to the South-View Cemetery Foundation.

The Urban Mediamakers production team for “Dignity in Rest” will be hosting the South-View Legacy Reunion: Celebrating Generations for Mother's Day, May 10 and 11, 2024, and for Father's Day, June 15, 2024, at the cemetery. During the reunion, relatives of those resting at South-View Cemetery will have an opportunity to speak with the producers about their loved ones. Refreshments will be provided at each of the events.
