This past weekend, I had the honor of attending a powerful women’s empowerment event at the beautiful Old Fourth Ward Park in Atlanta. The atmosphere was vibrant, the energy was high, and the conversations were deeply meaningful. The event featured none other than Toya Johnson-Rushing, her daughter Reginae Carter, and Toya’s husband, Red Rushing—three individuals who brought wisdom, authenticity, and warmth to the experience.
What made this event so special was the intentional structure that encouraged real connection. Attendees were split into small groups of 10 to 15, creating a safe and intimate space for open dialogue. Each group had its own focus, with topics designed to spark growth, healing, and empowerment.
Getting Real with Reginae
In my group, led by Reginae, we dove deep. Our conversation touched on everything from fear and self-doubt to the complex dynamics of family life. We spoke candidly about the boundaries we need to set for our own peace of mind—and how hard that can be, especially with those closest to us.
