Get ready, Atlanta—something deliciously new is coming your way! The Atlanta Summer Halal Food Fest debuts Saturday, July 19 from 12 to 7 p.m. at Atlantic Station’s Pinnacle Lot, and it’s a can’t-miss celebration of food, culture, and community.
This is Atlanta’s first-ever halal food festival, featuring a mouthwatering lineup of global dishes—from sizzling kabobs and juicy gourmet burgers to decadent desserts and refreshing drinks from Atlanta’s best halal vendors—all prepared halal.
Understanding Halal: More Than Just Food
The term "halal" is Arabic for "permissible" or "lawful." In the context of food, it refers to dietary standards prescribed by Islamic law. It's a comprehensive concept that goes beyond simply the absence of certain ingredients; it encompasses the entire process of food preparation, from sourcing ingredients to animal welfare (for meat products), slaughter methods (Dhabihah), and ensuring no cross-contamination with non-halal items. For instance, specific guidelines govern the humane treatment of animals, the method of slaughter, and the blessing invoked before consumption. While often associated with Muslim dietary practices, the principles of care, integrity, and respect for dietary values resonate with many, similar to kosher or plant-based diets. Ultimately, halal food is celebrated for its global flavors and its inclusive nature, welcoming everyone to enjoy its rich culinary traditions.
And this event is more than food—it’s about coming together, celebrating diversity, and giving back. Expect live entertainment, family-friendly games, interactive activities, and a vibrant pop-up artisan market filled with handmade goods and local businesses. Plus, a portion of the proceeds supports local charities and community initiatives. Come explore another part of Atlanta’s incredible food scene!
