St. Louis, MO – Renowned rapper Nelly was arrested early Wednesday morning at a St. Louis-area casino. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, an officer found four illegal ecstasy pills on the artist.

The 49-year-old was taken into custody and subsequently released by police in Maryland Heights, Missouri. His lawyer has already issued a statement, claiming that an "overzealous" officer targeted Nelly and conducted an improper search. The legal team maintains that the case will ultimately be dismissed.

This is not the first time Nelly has faced legal troubles related to drug possession. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge after a bus he was traveling in was pulled over in Tennessee.
