In August 2023, the vibrant city of Atlanta embarked on a musical journey down memory lane, honoring five decades of Hip Hop culture through a series of spirited events and celebrations. Mayor Andre Dickens, with the support of local businesses and the community, orchestrated a remarkable tribute to the genre that has left an indelible mark on Atlanta's identity.

Atlanta's role in the rise of Hip Hop has been nothing short of extraordinary, as Mayor Dickens rightly described it as "outsized and indisputable." The centerpiece of this commemoration was the "ATL Hip Hop 50 Concert: YESTERDAY, TODAY AND (404)-EVER," held on Sunday, August 13, at the iconic Lakewood Amphitheatre. The event was a spectacular showcase of Hip Hop's evolution over the past five decades, hosted by Mayor Dickens, Grammy-award winning songwriter Jermaine Dupri, and Emmy-award winning radio personality Ryan Cameron. - Tuesday, August 8, marked ATL Dance Day, celebrating the dance moves that have become synonymous with Hip Hop.

- Wednesday, August 9, encouraged everyone to "Rep Your City" in true Hip Hop fashion.

- Thursday, August 10, was Dungeon Family Appreciation Day, recognizing one of the most influential Hip Hop collectives.

- Friday, August 11, was Hip Hop Day, featuring a live broadcast from city hall with the charismatic radio personality and fellow Atlantan, Ryan Cameron.
